Revitalization Of Karet Sudirman Pedestrian Bridge Is Almost Completed, Anies' Staff: It Will Be Iconic And Viral

JAKARTA - Head of the Highways Agency Hari Nugroho said the revitalization of the Karet Sudirman pedestrian bridge (JPO) is almost complete. The work has reached 98 percent.

Hari said that in the near future, JPO Karet Sudirman would be inaugurated. So, the public will be able to enjoy the current JPO on Christmas and New Year celebrations later.

"Karet Sudirman JPO is already 98 percent, two percent are just finishing. It is predicted that it can be finished this week and can be directly used by the general public while enjoying the atmosphere of Nataru," Hari told reporters, Monday, December 20.

Currently, said Hari, Karet Sudirman JPO is in the finalization stage of trimming bridge railings and con wood bridge floors, installing RGB lights, and load sensors.

This subordinate of the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Anies Baswedan, claimed that JPO Karet Sudirman would be the best JPO in Jakarta. Apart from being pedestrian and disabled friendly, this bridge is also cyclists friendly because it is the only JPO in Jakarta that bicycles can cross.

"Equipped with an extra large platform and lift, this JPO with the concept of a Pinisi ship will be iconic and viral. It can be said that the best JPO in Jakarta is because it is the only JPO that can be crossed by bicycles," explained Hari.

The JPO which is located on Jalan Jenderal Sudirman, Hari continued, is equipped with a load sensor on the part of the bridge which can produce a signal sound when the visitor exceeds the capacity.

The installation of this load sensor aims to ensure the safety and comfort of visitors who want to enjoy the atmosphere of this Pinisi Ship JPO.

“At the JPO platform, if there are more than 50 people, the sensor will sound. If the sound goes down first, replace it. This is for the safety of visitors and other JPO users," said Hari.

It is known that this JPO was built with a modern concept. There is a new hub that brings together pedestrians, cyclists, and public transport users.

The elevator facilities at JPO Karet Sudirman can also carry 8 bicycles as well as riders, as well as people with disabilities who need it and are equipped with a bike lounge.

In the middle of the JPO, there is a gathering room with the theme of the Pinisi Ship, the Jakarta Pandang Pandang community. This JPO is also equipped with CCTV & load sensors on the bridge for security.
