JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency proposes that the maximum electronic road pricing (ERP) is Rp19,900,000 per pass.

Head of the Transportation Service Agency's Electronic Paid Road System Management Unit Zulkifli said the implementation of ERP or paid roads was gradual.

In the initial stage, the DKI Provincial Government will conduct an auction for the ERP construction at the CSW Intersection or near the ASEAN MRT Station to the HI Roundabout along the 6.7 kilometers.

"The target is varied, if we (propose) it is at Rp5,000.00 to Rp19,900.00 depending on the performance of the road," said Zulkifli in the FGD on the Implementation of Electronic Paid Roads, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, December 15.

Zulkifli estimates that the auction and construction of an ERP on the road segment will be in 2022, while the paid road operation will be in 2023.

Meanwhile, based on a survey from the Jakarta Transportation Council (DTKJ), the majority of the community as much as 77.75 percent of the 1,092 respondents expect JBE fares to be in the range of Rp10,000 to Rp13,000.

"A total of 77.75 percent expect the JBE fare to be between Rp10,000 and Rp13,000 per pass," said DTKJ Chair Haris Muhammadun.

He said that 11.45 percent of the other respondents hoped that the JBE tariff would be more than Rp20,000. This survey is aimed at users of four-wheeled vehicles.

Zulkifli explained a number of reasons for implementing the JBE policy, one of which was the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government's efforts to support people to travel by public transportation.

The use of public transportation has been on the decline. In 2002, the use of public transportation by the public reached 57 percent, then decreased in 2010 to 24 percent, and in 2018 only 16 percent.

"The increase in the use of private vehicles is increasing rapidly. The use of public transportation is becoming less and less. On the other hand, roads are not increasing, the growth is 0.01 percent per year," said Zulkifli.
