National Disaster Management Agency: Ministers And DPR Members Can Quarantine Independently At Home, But It Is Still For 10 Days

JAKARTA - Members of the House of Representatives (DPR) from the Gerindra faction, Mulan Jameela, and their families are being discussed because they are suspected of not undergoing quarantine after returning from Turkey. Mulan is known to have received a recommendation from the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) to be able to self-quarantine at home.

As a result, many people question the rules about whether Mulan is a member of the DPR so that she is released from quarantine obligations.

Responding to this, the Head of BNPB, Suharyanto, explained that ministerial-level officials and members of the Indonesian House of Representatives received exceptions to quarantine rules after traveling from abroad. They, he said, were allowed to self-quarantine.

"In self-quarantine, there are indeed some exceptions, sir. For example, state officials at the ministerial level and then members of this Council will also receive facilities for self-quarantine when they return from abroad," said Suharyanto in a working meeting with Commission VIII of the DPR, Monday, December 13.

"This means that the self-quarantine will not be placed in hotels or in prepared places," he continued.

Even though he was privileged to self-quarantine, Suharyanto emphasized that the rules would remain the same. Namely, officials and members of the DPR must quarantine for 10 days.

"Independent quarantine is the same as centralized quarantine. So for 10 days, it is hoped that it will not go anywhere. There are limitations that we have conveyed through circulars," concluded Suharyanto.

Previously, the Soekarno-Hatta Airport COVID-19 Air Task Force had spoken about the news that Ahmad Dhani and his wife Mulan Jameela and their children were not quarantined after returning from Turkey. The task force said that Mulan Jameela as a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives received a recommendation from BNPB to be quarantined at home.

"That was a quarantine letter from the BNPB, I forgot the number. I approved it on December 5, it was stated that Mrs. Raden Wulan Sari or Mrs. Mulan Jameela as member of the Indonesian House of Representatives can indeed self-quarantine at home in Pondok Indah, South Jakarta," said The commander of the COVID-19 Air Task Force at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Colonel Agus Listiyono, told reporters, Monday, December 13.

"What I read about the recommendations from the BNPB there, it was mentioned Mrs. Mulan Jameela and her family," he added.

Agus said that before leaving for abroad, Mulan Jameela had indeed been asked to quarantine at home when he arrived back in the country. According to him, the same applies to other DPR members.

"It's not just Mulan Jameela, all members of the DPR who have received recommendations, they already know. Right before departure, they have been submitted to the BNPB," he said.
