Jakarta's Vaccination Is Already The Best, Deputy Governor Riza Reminds Jakarta Residents Of The Omicron Variant

JAKARTA - Anticipating mass crowds on New Year's Eve 2022, Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta, Ahmad Riza Patria, reminded the public to continue to apply health protocols and reduce social activities.

Deputy Governor Riza assessed that every night at the turn of the year the number of COVID-19 always increases. For this reason, he appealed to the public to follow the rules set by the government. Moreover, there is currently a new variant of Omicron.

"For the past two years, every holiday has always been followed by an increase in COVID-19 cases. We hope that the Christmas and New Year holidays will not cause an increase in COVID-19", he told reporters, Wednesday, December 1.

Even though vaccination has been carried out, even in Jakarta, community vaccinations are sufficient.

"In Jakarta, including the best, already 11.1 million people have received the vaccine. However, we still have to be careful. Especially now that there is a new variant, even though the vaccine is already extraordinary", said the Deputy Governor of DKI.

Meanwhile, the Director of Traffic of Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Sambodo Purnomo Yogo, said that security for New Year's Eve was not only carried out at public crowded points.

"We will not do it on Sudirman-Thamrin Street and the HI Roundabout, which have been the hot spots for the turn of New Year's Eve. But we will carry out all points in Jakarta that have the potential to cause crowds on New Year's Eve", he said.

Kombes Sambodo detailed that several areas in Jakarta will become the center of crowds on New Year's Eve. For example, Kemayoran, Kota Tua, Kemang, East Flood Canal, Mulawarman, Senopati, and others are suspected to be crowded points for New Year's Eve.

"We are assisted by the ranks of the Army. There is no action, as has been going on at Car Free Night (CFN). We are just turning around", he said.

The diversion will be carried out starting at 19.00 WIB on Friday, December 31, 2021, until 04.00 WIB on Saturday, January 1, 2022.
