3 Meters Of Landslide Material Closes Takokak-Cianjur Village Road, Residents And TNI And Police Are Mutual Cooperation

CIANJUR- The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Cianjur Regency, West Java, continues to handle landslides that have closed the connecting road between villages in Takokak District.

Secretary of the Cianjur BPBD, Rudi Labis Wibowo, said that his party, together with the TNI/Polri and residents, were trying to get rid of the landslide material using makeshift tools. At least today two-wheeled vehicles can pass because it was isolated.

"We are trying to make the inter-village connecting road connecting Waringinsari, Sukarama, and Pamoyanan accessible for motorbikes while waiting for the heavy equipment that has been requested to speed up the evacuation of landslide materials", he said when contacted in Cianjur, Antara, Monday, November 29.

Another landslide that hit the Takokak area was due to heavy rains with an intensity of more than 5 hours. As a result, a 20-meter high cliff collapsed and closed the main road connecting the villages. The BPBD immediately sent officers to open the route.

Head of Waringinsari Village, Nadir Muharam Abdurahman, said that before the landslides closed the main road between villages, Takokak District had been raining from afternoon to early Monday morning.

As a result, the cliff as high as 20 meters collapsed and closed the entire body of the road with a landslide material height of 3 meters and a length of more than 15 meters.

"There were no casualties in the incident, but the activities of the residents were paralyzed because the road is the only access, especially for economic activities", he said.

He hopes that heavy equipment will come soon and road access can be re-opened because so far, this is a fairly congested route for vehicles, especially carrying agricultural products to the sub-district center and downtown Sukabumi-Cianjur.

"We continue to urge residents to be extra careful and alert when crossing disaster-prone routes, including villages that are prone to natural disasters because of the high rainfall since the last month", said Nadir Muharam Abdurahman.
