Not An Ordinary Racing Event, Formula E Will Be 'air' In More Than 170 Countries

JAKARTA - The Executive Committee of Formula E Jakarta (Jakarta E-Prix) said that the electric car racing event is planned to be broadcast in more than 170 countries.

"This is not an ordinary event concept, this is an international event that will be broadcast in more than 170 countries", said the Chief Executive of Formula E Jakarta, Ahmad Sahroni, at the Jakarta City Hall Hall, Antara, Monday, November 29.

He hopes that the electric car racing event will have an impact on economic recovery in line with the government's efforts to restore the economy after being affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Hopefully everything will be carried out well, there is MotoGP, Formula E, hopefully, Mandalika can be used by Formula 1.

Currently, teams from automotive sports associations, the International Automobile Federation (FIA), and Formula E Operations (FEO) are in Jakarta to conduct a site survey. Later, the location for the implementation of Formula E will be determined by a team from the FEO, the Indonesian Motor Association (IMI), and the DKI Jakarta BUMD, PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro).

Sahroni targets that the location of the electric car racing circuit will be announced before Christmas after the survey is completed.

"Hopefully we will announce the track issue before Christmas, but wait for a survey from the FIA. If the FIA says 'go head', we from the committee will announce it immediately", said Sahroni.

If there is a definite location, his party will report it to President Joko Widodo because the event carries the name of the country.

The report to the Head of State, he continued, did not intend to involve President Jokowi in the electric car racing event.

The committee will meet the President asking for further directions because this is the state's "branding". We have to report this to the President, not involve the President regarding the implementation", he said.

Formula E in Jakarta will be held on June 4, 2022, after being delayed from the original plan in June 2020 due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
