JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has pushed back the target for the announcement of the location of the Formula E circuit, from what was previously planned in November to December 2021.

In response to this, a member of the PDIP faction of the DKI Regional Representative Council (DPRD), Gilbert Simanjuntak, considers that the delay in the announcement of the exact location for the implementation of Formula E will have a negative impact on the quality of the event.

"I think the delayed preparation will have an impact on the quality of the event," Gilbert said in a short message, Wednesday, November 17.

Gilbert regretted the attitude of the DKI Provincial Government which seemed to be planning this international electric car racing event in a hurry. This is because the implementation costs and commitment fees that are disbursed are quite large.

"With such a large cost for the implementation, it is not a good impression to rush. It is people's money, don't do it carelessly," said Gilbert.

For information, the location of the Formula E racing event is not certain. The initial plan, the exact location of the Formula E circuit was announced in November 2021. However, the decision turned out to be delayed.

Managing Director of Jakarta EPIX PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro), Gunung Kartiko admitted that the announcement of the electric car racing circuit was delayed a month to December.

"Indeed, we can't open it to our friends yet. Next month (December) we will decide the location," said Gunung in a virtual discussion.

Although the selection of circuit candidates has passed pre-analysis, the subordinates of DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan admitted that they still need a process to determine the best location as a Formula E racing track.

"FEO (Formula E Operation/Formula E license holder) also cannot rashly determine the location because this location is in the city, not in the circuit," said Gunung.

Gunung admitted that the determination of the Formula E circuit requires more consideration than other racing matches that will also be held in Indonesia, such as the Moto GP in Mandalika, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).

"Unlike Mandalika, which already has an area, they just need to make the best design, then carry out certification from the FIA. If we consider it because it is in the city of Jakarta. We deliberately build the circuit. So, the considerations are quite diverse," he explained.
