Megawati Encourages Research And Innovation For An Independent Indonesia

JAKARTA - Chairperson of the PDI-P DPP Megawati Soekarnoputri encourages research and innovation to strengthen Indonesia that stands on its own feet (self-reliant).

"I was reminded by Mrs. Megawati Soekarnoputri that Indonesia will progress if we stand firmly in the spirit of independence, stand on our own feet. This spirit must be realized through mastery of science and technology," said Secretary-General of the DPP PDIP Hasto Kristiyanto in the Socialization of Scholarship Opportunities for the Fund Management Institute Education (LPDP) in Jakarta quoted by Antara, Tuesday, November 9.

PDIP also encourages young Indonesians to pursue knowledge as high as possible with scholarship facilities.

"From Mrs. Megawati Soekarnoputri to all Indonesian youths, Indonesian students, who are participating in a webinar today on how to get scholarships from the government," said Hasto.

This socialization activity was attended by the Chairperson of the PDIP DPP Youth and Sports Sector Eriko Sotarduga BPS, member of Commission X DPR Andreas Pareira, LPDP President Director Andin Hadiyanto, and LPDP Scholarship Director Dwi Larso.

Hasto recounted a history that has rarely been known to the people, especially young people, that in 1965 Indonesia tried to master nuclear science, metal science, science related to outer space, and literature.

Because of that, the proclaimer and first president of the Republic of Indonesia Soekarno had sent more than 260,000 Indonesian students to study. They were ordered to become pioneer youths to fully strive to master science and technology.

"So that the ideals for a sovereign Indonesia, an independent Indonesia, and with a personality in culture can be carried out as well as possible," said Hasto.

PDIP encourages all young Indonesians to strive for excellence in mastering science and technology through the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), in this case, Megawati Soekarnoputri as Chair of the Steering Committee.

Hasto assesses that this momentum can be used as well as possible to inflame the spirit of mastery of science and technology and encourage all research and innovation activities, especially those that encourage Indonesia to be independent.

"Politics also requires the application of research and innovation in making public policies. Let's make the best use of the opportunity to get scholarships from the government for the progress of Greater Indonesia," said Hasto.
