Type "Shrimp Brain On A Motorcycle" On Google, How Come Jokowi's Photo Riding A Motorcycle Still Comes Out?

JAKARTA – It's strange, but this is related to the digital engine algorithm managed by Google. Yes, recently the public has been excited about Google search results which show a number of pictures or photos of Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) riding a motorcycle when the search column says "Shrimp Brain Riding a Motorcycle".

Some say that this phenomenon has occurred since last February 2019, until now when VOI tries to write "Shrimp Brain Riding a Motorcycle" and then press enter, there is still a photo of Jokowi riding a motorbike.

In response to this, VOI spoke to Roy Suryo, a telematics expert and social media activist. Roy Suryo said that this search automatically appears because many people type these keywords as input to search for an image.

"Indeed, that is the strength as well as the weakness of the search engine algorithm. He will search and find what sentences or words are based on the most typed keywords," said Roy via text message to VOI, Monday, November 8.

However, Roy said, the Indonesian Presidential Palace, who already knew about it, would take a stand to eliminate the search results for these keywords.

Roy believes that the government team often creates counter-trending topics that usually appear when there is a trending original topic about the actual situation.

"I believe the palace must have ordered 'any action' to remove it," he concluded.

When asked whether there was IT personnel who deliberately created these keywords, Roy said it was purely an algorithm.

"No, it's not a setting. It's purely a Technical Algorithm," said Roy.
