Dozens Of People Intervene To Find Tourists From Pondok Gede Bekasi Who Drowned On Ciantir Beach, Lebak

JAKARTA - The evacuation team conducted another search to find tourists from Bekasi who were lost in the waves at Ciantir Beach, Sawarna area, Lebak Regency, Banten Province.

"Luckily, the second day the southern waters are relatively normal and it is hoped that the missing tourists will be found," said Banten Basarnas Public Relations Officer Wahyu when contacted in Lebak, Monday, November 8.

An evacuation team involving the Banten Basarnas, Polri, BPBD Lebak, beach volunteers, fishermen, and the local community conducted a sweep of Dzikri (21) tourists from Bekasi, West Java.

The evacuation team reached tens of people and some of them carried out a ground sweep, as well as a search around the coast of the Sawarna area. Most likely the tourists who were dragged by the waves at Ciantir Beach had already moved away from the scene. The evacuation team also used fishing boats to comb around the coast.

Meanwhile, Basarnas Banten uses a rescue car ship evacuation tool, a water patrol equipped with a communication guard, medical armor, and hazmat personal protective equipment (PPE).

"So far, we have carried out a search in the middle of the sea, but we haven't found any tourists who were swept away by the waves," he explained as quoted by Antara.

According to him, the second-day evacuation team ensured that the Dzikri of tourists from Bekasi, West Java could be found because the weather had returned to normal.

Basarnas Banten is conducting a sweep of up to three kilometers from the scene.

So far, he said, search and rescue in the southern waters of Lebak are certainly different from those in the northern part of the Sunda Strait. Because, the character of the sea in the southern waters is quite high, so it is easy to find.

Usually, he said, tourists who disappeared were dragged by the waves in the southern waters and floated back to the surface.

"We believe the missing tourist can be found the second day," he explained.
