Makassar Records Zero COVID-19 Cases For A Week

MAKASSAR - The Makassar City Government through the COVID-19 Main Command Post in Makassar recorded zero cases of transmission of the new coronavirus for a week.

Makassar Mayor Moh. Ramdhan Pomanto (Danny Pomanto), said that the zero COVID-19 cases indicated that all parties understood and obeyed the health protocols.

"Whatever our programs and efforts in handling COVID-19, if everyone can focus and adhere to health protocols, they will surely reap results like zero cases," he said, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, November 2.

Danny Pomanto said that the success in suppressing the transmission of the case bore fruit after the Makassar Recovery program was launched and implemented according to its objectives.

He also reminded all parties, especially residents, to stay focused and adhere to health protocols, and not to be complacent with the current situation where the transmission rate can be controlled.

"Even though there are now zero cases, we must not be careless. We must implement health protocols so that the condition of zero cases is maintained," he said.

Danny Pomanto views that the potential to increase the number of victims due to the coronavirus is still possible along with the mutation of the virus.

"I don't really know all the types of mutations and their variants. What is certain is that this virus is said to mutate continuously and we need to be aware of this. However, with strict procedures, God willing, we can avoid it," he explained.

Based on data from the Makassar COVID-19 Main Command Post during the pandemic, a total of 48.750 confirmed cases and 9.603 suspected cases were reported.

Meanwhile, data on zero suspected cases of COVID-19 occurred from October 25 to October 31, 2021.
