Eason Chan Cancels Concert In Bangkok Due To Alleged Kidnapping Of Chinese Citizens In Thailand

JAKARTA - Hong Kong singer Eason Chan is scheduled to hold a concert for a tour titled "Fears and Dreams" in Bangkok, Thailand on February 22. However, the show has been officially canceled.

The organizers called the 'security problem' a factor in canceling concerts. Although they did not mention the case explicitly, CNA in its report mentioned the case of the disappearance of Chinese actor Wang Xing, in Thailand recently, as the cause.

Meanwhile, the announcement regarding the cancellation of the Eason Chan concert in Thailand was made by the organizers through the Weibo social media platform.

Staff members have worked tirelessly to create an unforgettable concert experience for the audience. However, for Mr. Eason Chan and the organizers, audience safety is the most important thing," the announcement reads, citing CAN, Wednesday, January 15.

"After considering the recent security concerns for Chinese citizens and fans traveling from various regions to Thailand, we chose to cancel the concert in Bangkok."

Tickets for the concert have been sold out. The organizers also promised full refunds for ticket holders.

For information, the case involving Wang Xing occurred when the actor flew to Bangkok on January 3 for a role in the Thai film project.

However, he reportedly disappeared near the Thai border town, and was later found on January 7 near Myanmar's border.

According to Thai police, Wang told that he was persuaded by a major Thai entertainment company to do casting work. However, he was instead brought across the border into Myanmar, where he is believed to have been hired in a call fraud operation targeting Chinese people.
