Lionel Richie Can't Continue the Concert, Fans Appreciate the Legend

JAKARTA - Lionel Richie is rumored to have suddenly fallen ill while performing at the opening of his collaboration tour with Earth, Wind & Fire. This incident forced the 77-year-old singer-songwriter to end his performance early for health reasons.

Launching Variety, the incident occurred at the Grand Casino Arena, Minnesota, USA. The singer of "Hello" was only able to survive for about an hour on stage before finally deciding to stop.

A number of videos that have spread widely on social media also show the moment when Richie performed. When performing the song "Dancing on the Ceiling", he was seen several times sitting on the floor of the stage because of his weakened physical condition.

Publicly, Richie also admitted to the audience that he was not in good condition.

"When you feel dizzy, sit down immediately," Richie told the audience packed into the arena.

After the moment, Richie tried to continue his performance by sitting on the piano chair to sing "Three Times a Lady". However, his body condition did not seem to allow him to continue to be forced. He also announced a break to the audience.

The members of Richie's band stayed on stage for 15 minutes, hoping that the star would sing again. But after waiting a long time, saxophonist Dino Soldo finally appeared on stage to make a bitter announcement while expressing his appreciation for the audience's patience.

"Unfortunately, Lionel is not feeling well. He will not be able to continue the show. Additional information will be available soon," said Soldo.

Even though they couldn't get the full experience of this special collaboration concert, the audience still appreciated the legend. They also prayed that Richie's condition would improve soon through comments on social media.

"Hopefully you feel better after the break. We are all here - the audience - also pray for you ❤️. Your performance was amazing! Don't forget to drink enough water," said one of the fans full of respect.

The tour, which is scheduled to take place at these 26 points, has just begun in Minnesota. The series of concerts is scheduled to visit prestigious stages such as Madison Square Garden in New York City and the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles, before it is scheduled to end at the Moody Center, Austin on August 14.
