The Changcuters Release Their Eighth Album Wow Ma as an Independent Band

JAKARTA - Bandung's pride rock n' roll band, The Changcuters, released eleven new tracks for their eighth studio album titled "Wow Ma".

More than five years since the album "Loyalis" (2020), "Wow Ma" is The Changcuters' first album after returning to an independent band, after leaving Sony Music Indonesia.

Tria said the gap between "Wow Ma" and the previous album was the longest in the entire music journey of the Changcuters.

Not without reason, the vocalist admitted that there were several obstacles that made the eighth album only be introduced when Changcuters entered his 22nd year.

"Why the longest? Well because there are many (obstacles), starting from the pandemic. After the pandemic we started to perform again, a lot, so it's like prioritizing this first, we'll perform again, while we'll go back to the studio. Eh ternyata ada kejadian sama saya sakit segala macem. Kepotong lagi gitu," kata Tria saat ditemui di Kemang, Jakarta Selatan, Kamis, 25 Juni.

The eccentric vocalist also mentioned that The Changcuters, who are now taking care of him, are the reason why they are not in a hurry to release "Wow Ma".

"Because (the album) we released it with our own record label, so it's like there's nothing (pressure). If you were in a major label, it would be like 'Come on, when is it?' But now it's like there's no deadline. So there's no deadline, it's finally free," he said.

The release of "Wow Ma" is a personal achievement felt by The Changcuters' personnel. They are well aware that for a band that has been around for more than two decades, it is not easy to continue to produce albums, especially when everything is done independently.

"22 years of being a band, yes, working is the most important thing for us. So as long as we are still five, as long as we are still committed to being a band," said Tria.

"And we feel that even in the album 'Wow Ma', it's really fun, there's a special pleasure in making an album, it's different if it's just a single," he added.

To complete the eleven songs in the album "Wow Ma", The Changcuters have also prepared many things, ranging from different artwork for each single, physical album release, to tour plans.
