Memories Of The Late Harry Roesli In The Eyes Of Dewa Budjana

JAKARTA - Dewa Budjana commemorates the birthday of the late Harry Roesli through uploads on his personal Instagram account. The Gigi guitarist shared his memories of the Indonesian music figure who passed away on December 11, 2004.

In his upload, Dewa Budjana showed off a photo of himself with Harry Roesli in 2003. The 61-year-old guitarist also admitted to being an admirer of the deceased for a long time.

"I really admire his works, Hotspot (1976), the first album I heard during junior high school in Surabaya," wrote Dewa Budjana in the caption.

"The songs, the lyrics, unique arrangements, as well as Albert Warnerin's lead guitar filling greatly influenced the beginning of my music," he continued.

Budjana also showed one of the archives containing Harry Roesli's writings while still a journalist. It can be seen how Harry described his observations of Spirit, the band Budjana before Gigi.

"In 1987, when I was in a band with Spirit, suddenly there was an interview schedule, and it turned out that Harry Roesli was coming... a very role model," said Budjana.

At that time, Budjana admitted that she was nervous and confused because she had to face an idol who wanted to do an interview.

"How come you're not nervous and confused??? Faced with him," he said.

"Well, that's the unique and humorous style of writing, my voice is mentioned as "Knalpot broke ha ha," said Budjana.

For information, Harry Roesli was born in Bandung on September 10, 1951. His musical journey has been going on for more than 30 years, which has made him one of the respected musicians in the country.

No less than 22 albums have been produced by Harry Roesli, including Philosophy Gang (1973), Ken Arok (1975), Plastic Girl (1977), Harry Roesli 83 (1983), and many more.
