Alex Van Halen's Story Of Revenge To John Bonham's Son

JAKARTA - Jason Bonham, son of drummer Led Zeppelin, John Bonham has had an unpleasant experience with legendary musician, Alex Van Halen. He admitted that he received curt treatment from drummer Van Halen even though he had only met for the first time.

He recounted the moment in his interview with KSHE 95. Known by Leonard Haze from Y&T, Jason at that time was very enthusiastic when he met Alex in Donnington.

"Hi Leonard," said Alex. "Know, this is Jason Bonham," Leonard replied. Alex's next answer made Jason stunned.

"'Then why?', he just said 'Then why?'," Jason said. The moment was imprinted on his memory, and made the next meetings feel awkward.

When he was close to Michael Anthony, his current tour partner, who is also Van Halen's bassist, he finally got an answer. Apparently there is a past story between John Bonham and Alex Van Halen that has affected him.

"'We heard your father in (Sunset Bar) in Rainbow, and we were playing next to Gazzarri's.' We ran to greet him'. Alex jumped over the fence and reached out his hand... Then my father brushed it off! Maybe that's why he got a little angry'," Jason said.

This is one of the stories he recalls from his father who passed away in 1980. Died at the age of 32, John Bonham became one of the most influencel drummers in the world's rock music scene to date.
