Review Mini Album Love Recalls, Trying To Celebrate Geisha With New Version Old Collection

JAKARTA - Six years have passed since Geisha bid farewell to Narova Morina Sinaga, alias Momo. The news was like lightning in the afternoon of Bolog which came unexpectedly.

It must be admitted, Momo already has the dominant color in Geisha. But there are many things behind the scenes that are not revealed, which is the reason for the change of vocalist from Momo to Regina Poetiray, and fans can only accept it.

It's not easy to get used to the ears of hearing Geisha songs with vocals other than Momo. Even after six years, many still find it difficult to move on. That's why Roby et al tried to refresh Geisha with different new songs.

Various attempts have been made to find a new Geisha color, from confused songs such as Kunci Hati to eccentric ones such as Kerjian Disko. But in 2024 they try to return to old works made in a new version in the title Love Recalls.

This mini album contains six songs that were popular in its time, such as If Love Dia, You First, Never Existed to Love and Hate. The collection of best hits was reprocessed with a new touch.

A number of musicians were involved in the production process of this album, such as HOOK, Enrico Octaviano and Dreane. The vintage touch, soul to city pop is very thick on this album, giving interesting surprises from familiar songs.

Their songs are also willing to be transformed with an arrangement that spoils the ears. Musically, they clearly advance to class, in some instrumental parts, it seems that there is a touch of Silk Sonic as a reference. Soft, polite and tantalizing the sense of hearing.

But of course there will be people who prefer the original version of confused songs on this album. The purpose of this album seems not to lament heartbreak, but rather as a celebration of feelings with a more mature perspective.

So far, Geisha has continued to explore their new format and identity. And the EP Love Recalls is an offering that deserves to be enjoyed, at least try to be given the opportunity to be closer to music lovers in general.
