JAKARTA - As a music group that has been running for more than 35 years, personnel from KLa Project, Katon Bagaskara (vocals, guitars), kiosk (vocals, guitars), and Adi Adrian (piano), have their own views when releasing musical works.

They have just released the album KLacoust in double vinyl format. This is their legacy for the Indonesian music industry.

Growing up in the 1990s, KLa Project saw the album as an important release for a musician or music group. They see the entire album has its own background, so it deserves to be called a work of art.

"Era is changing. Now, the music industry is changing. Yes like that. But fortunately we also have more vinyl fans. So, it means that appreciation for a work is still there," said Adi Adrian when met in Setiabudi, South Jakarta, Wednesday, July 3.

"A little bit of the story, if we buy the album, we read the credit title, there is a long story behind the album. So, we're not just releasing songs, it's a art, there's a long story from a song. Well, that's what doesn't exist anymore," continued Adi.

The view of KLa Project personnel certainly needs to be considered. The reason is, they have proven to have produced iconic works that are still being heard today, such as Yogyakarta.

"We have never arranged songs, we have never participated in mainstream, we follow our hearts, whether we like them or not. In the past, we also thought about the tastes of the people around us, but that doesn't mean our songs have to go viral. In our era, it's not like that. Make a song like making a painting, which is wholeheartedly, and shown to the connoisseur, not to go viral, "said Katon.

"Our gift used to be, we knew they would like that because we believe our work is cool. If our work can last 30 years, then thank God."

They also questioned the purpose of a musician to go viral when writing songs. According to him, the song is one integrity, not just pieces of music.

"Kita KLa Project masih orang lama, kalau mau dengar lagu ya nanti full ngguh. Karena, effort-nya big utkah kita, ninggalin rumah untuk ngerang dan segala macam," ujar urus.

"Yes, hopefully in the future we will still make songs, we will still make them like that, not the goal to go viral," concluded Katon.
