JAKARTA - Fashion is not only about the clothes you wear, but it can also be a space to convey ideas, emotions, stories, and even culture.

This can be seen in the JF3 Fashion Festival 2026 which presents a number of designers and artists from South Korea with works that combine fashion, fine art, music, performances, and direct experiences.

The three names present, namely Studio di Perla, OHGYO, and CONSTELLER D.L., offer a different approach in translating art into the world of fashion.

Studio at Perla introduces the latest collection titled "APORIA". The name describes the condition when the values and rules that have been known are no longer able to provide absolute answers.

Through this collection, Studio di Perla explores various social boundaries, ranging from gender, class, race, to cultural authority. The "APORIA" collection depicts the journey of an individual in facing the established structure while opening up space to reconsider human identity and diversity.

Art and fashion exploration is also present through OHGYO with the JULY SEVEN collection. This art-based brand founded by South Korean artist and designer Oh Hye-young raises the relationship between humans, emotional memories, and the process of rebuilding relationships through fashion, painting, sound, and performances.

JULY SEVEN originated from five paintings in Oh Hye-young's solo exhibition titled Human Connection in 2020. Various emotions such as love, parting, longing, loss, and the healing process were then translated into the form of clothing.

For Oh Hye-young, clothes are not just objects to wear, but also moving sculptural forms that carry emotions and memories.

"JULY SEVEN is not a brand that starts from a seasonal trend or fashion. The starting point of this project is a long-running in-depth investigation of humanity and the experience of life," he said, when met at the Summarecon Mall Kelapa Gading, Jakarta on Friday, July 24, 2026.

"For a long time, I have been exploring the question 'What connects people?' through philosophy and art. Love and loss, meeting and parting, and the emotions experienced along the way have all been important inspirations for this collection," he continued.

Apart from human experience, nature is also a source of inspiration in the collection.

"Another major inspiration is nature. Forests, seas, fogs, and night skies symbolize the order and cycles that existed long before the emergence of humans, and this is reflected deeply in the colors, materials, and spatial directions of this collection," he said.

JULY SEVEN presents a sculptural and gender-fluid silhouette with three-dimensional shapes, asymmetrical construction, draping, and texture play. Materials are selected considering weight, texture, transparency, rigidity, and the fabric's response to movement.

The approach is also visible in performances that combine clothing, body, movement, music, lighting, video, and space.

"This fashion show is not just a stage to showcase fashion, but an art project that combines fashion, fine art, sound, and performance into one narrative. Each dress symbolizes an emotion, and the movement of the models, music, visuals, and lighting are combined into one story," he said.

Through JULY SEVEN, Oh Hye-young wants to invite viewers to look back at their relationship with themselves, others, and the environment around them.

"The core message that JULY SEVEN wants to convey is 'Interhuman Relationships'. Through the language of fashion, we try to express the process in which different creatures meet, establish relationships, overcome wounds, and ultimately move towards the formation of one community," he continued.

Meanwhile, CONSTELLER D.L. presents the philosophy of "Fashion is a Canvas". The Korean art, fashion, and lifestyle brand views clothing as a canvas to present art works while conveying creative ideas.

CONSTELLER D.L. presents a fashion show of art and pop-up exhibitions through M8 SHOWROOM owned by MCC GLOBAL. The works displayed combine fashion with original art, media art, live painting, music, and performances.

Designer Consteller DL explained that the works were born from the process of combining various art disciplines and then translated into a fashion experience.

"I use various works of art as inspiration to create new works. From the works, I create a living work that has life, so that it can be enjoyed together in this event. There are also several characters that were created to be poured into the works displayed on Fashion Street," said Consteller.

According to him, the combination of various art elements makes the audience not only see fashion, but also understand fashion as part of culture.

"Through a combination of original works, fashion, live painting, and performance, the audience can not only enjoy fashion, but also feel and learn more about fashion as part of the culture conveyed by the artists," he added.

The presence of South Korean artists and designers at the JF3 Fashion Festival 2026 is also a space for cultural exchange between Korea and Indonesia. For Baek Jinjoo, the experience of performing in Indonesia gave him new inspiration to develop his work and collaborations in the future.

"This is the first time I've come to this event. I've made works that are specially prepared for this event. When I came here, I felt the difference in culture between Korea and Indonesia. From these cultural differences, I got the spirit and inspiration to continue moving forward, not only this year, but also for the years to come," he explained.

Baek Jinjoo also saw Indonesia's diversity as an interesting experience and gave a new perspective.

"While in Indonesia, I saw many very diverse differences, especially the differences in skin color and the colors of the clothes they wear. From this diversity, I feel closer to Indonesia and get inspiration to keep coming back and developing collaborations in the future," he explained.

Meanwhile, Consteller D.L assessed that art can be enjoyed through a wider experience, not just visually.

"Our work is not just a picture on a canvas. Through the combination of various elements, the audience can enjoy a cultural experience. They not only see the picture, but also listen to music and feel the performance. In that way, various cultural elements can be enjoyed together," said Consteller.

The presence of Studio at Perla, OHGYO, and CONSTELLER DL shows that fashion is now evolving into a broader medium. Clothes not only serve as clothing, but can also be a means to convey stories, process emotions, introduce culture, and create experiences.

Through JF3 Fashion Festival 2026, fashion and art meet in various forms, ranging from the exploration of identity, the emotional journey of humans, to the fusion of fine art and performance.

The works invite the audience to see fashion not only about trends and appearances, but as part of the ever-evolving story of human beings, culture, and experience.
