Eric Carmen Songwriter All By Myself Dies At The Age Of 74

JAKARTA - Musician and songwriter from the United States, Eric Carmen died at the age of 74.

The sad news was conveyed by his wife, Amy through the official website.

"It is with great sadness that we convey the heartbreaking news of the death of Eric Carmen," read the announcement on Eric Carmen's official website, Tuesday, March 12.

In the announcement, it was stated that Carmen died while sleeping. It was not explained further about the cause of the musician's death.

Our sweet, loving, talented Ericc passed away in his sleep, on the weekend. He was very happy to know that over the decades, his music touched so many people and will be his eternal legacy.

Meanwhile, Eric Carmen is a songwriter from All By Myself who was famously performed by Celine Dion in 1996.

The original song was performed by Carmen first through her debut album as a soloist in 1975.

Several other songs that have been hits throughout his solo career include Never Gonna Fall in Love Again, She Did It, Hungry Eyes, and Make Me Lose Control.

Born in Cleveland on August 11, 1949, Eric Carmen was first known as the lead vocalist of pop-rock band Raspberries.

Carmen joined the band for five years, from 1970 to 1975, with one of the hits entitled Go All the Way.
