JAKARTA - Norwegian black metal giant ABBATH, the solo project of former Immortal frontman Abbath (real name Olve Eikemo), has entered the studio to begin recording its third full-length album.

Recording sessions took place at Dub Studio in Kristiansand, Norway with producer Endre Kirkesola. The album is due later this year through the  Season Of Mist record label.

ABBATH's current studio sessions come more than a year after Abbath issued a statement saying he was battling addiction. He also promised to commit to undergoing a rehabilitation program.

Abbath's decision to enter rehab comes just weeks after ABBATH played a disastrous two-song concert in Buenos Aires, Argentina. At that time, a number of fans asked for a refund.

ABBATH toured South America in support of their second album, Outstrider, which was released in July 2019 also through Season Of Mist.

Outstrider marks ABBATH's second release since the frontman left Immortal. The legal battle for Immortal's name rights in 2014 involved Abbath against two other Immortal founders; Demonaz (real name: Harald Nævdal) and drummer Horgh (real name: Reidar Horghagen).

Abbath claims, Demonaz and Horgh left Immortal after the two removed their equipment from the band practice room. The Norwegian court system dictated otherwise and gave the name Immortal to Demonaz.
