This Is The Reason John Petrucci Has The Iconic Beard

JAKARTA - Dream Theater guitarist John Petrucci is the owner of one of the most iconic beards in metal.

At the start of his appearance, Petrucci appeared baby-face for years. After that, the hair on his face became his trademark and he believed that the beard made metal music heavier.

"And nothing smells better than a neat beard," he assured Metal Hammer.

"Growing a beard and learning to care for it is like owning a garden for the first time - you really get into it."

The metalhead is an expert at treating beards. To that end, he teamed up with Captain Fawcett last fall to create his own beard care product collection.

These products include Nebula mustache wax, beard balm, and beard oil.

Elsewhere, Petrucci discusses drug addiction in the metal world. His worst experience with drugs was the stimulants that people take on a daily basis.

"I didn't do drugs, but as a teenager, I gave in to peer pressure and some of the older kids persuaded me to drink something that was super concentrated in caffeine," He recalls.

"It made me feel bad. My heart was racing and I felt restless. The experience scared me. I remember thinking, 'Why would anyone do this for pleasure?'"
