Roy Suryo's Preliminary Trial Held Today, Jokowi's Degree Case Search is Sued

JAKARTA - The first pretrial hearing filed by Roy Suryo as a suspect in the case of alleged defamation and fitnas of the false degree of the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi) was held at the South Jakarta District Court, Monday, June 29.

The pretrial application with case number 99/Pid.Pra/2026/PN JKT.SEL was registered by Roy Suryo, on Monday, June 22.

Based on the South Jakarta District Court's case tracking information system (SIPP), the first trial will begin at 09.00 WIB.

Through the application, Roy Suryo sued the legality of the search action carried out by the police investigation team in handling the case of alleged dissemination of allegations of a fake diploma against Jokowi.

"The classification of cases, the legality or otherwise of the implementation of forced efforts to search," is stated in the case document filed by the former Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora).

The defendant I, in this case, is the Government of the Republic of Indonesia cq Metro Jaya police cq Polda Metro Jaya dirreskrimum cq kasubdit kamneg cq investigation team. Meanwhile, the defendant II, is the Government of the Republic of Indonesia cq attorney general cq Jampidum Attorney General cq Kajati Jakarta.

Previously, Roy Suryo and doctor Tifa were arrested by the Polda Metro Jaya police, Friday (19/6/2026), related to the case of alleged defamation of a fake Jokowi diploma. The two had undergone treatment at the Kramat Jati Polri Hospital before being handed over to the South Jakarta District Attorney's Office on Monday, June 22.

Despite being a suspect, the prosecutor's office decided not to detain Roy Suryo and Tifa's doctor. The decision was made after considering the request of the lawyer and the family who were willing to become guarantors.

This pretrial hearing is expected to attract public attention because it relates to a case that drags a number of names and is in the spotlight of the public.
