JAKARTA - Kanye West sued an unknown Instagram user for allegedly leaking his songs to the social media platform.
According to a legal document seen by Billboard, West filed a lawsuit on Wednesday, September 6 over its illegal distribution of music.
The lawsuit alleges that the individual behind the popular @DaUnreleasedGod_ has violated copyright laws by leaking various songs belonging to West between March and August 2023.
These songs include collaboration with DJ Khaled, footage of Donda's hearing party, and more than 20 songs with the titles We Did It Kid, Shy Can't Look, NASDAQ, and Mr. Miyagi.
West and his legal team have yet to identify the person or entity behind the account, but they believe the account is owned by someone who previously worked with the rapper.
If this is the case, the person would have signed a confidentiality agreement to gain access to unreleased music, which means leaking the song means a contract breach.
According to reports, the lawsuit will be changed by entering the name of the defendant when they are identified.
The defendant, without permission from West, inappropriately leaked, published, and distributed several Registered Compositions including - but not limited - to the following contained in 'Instagram' and 'X' (previously known as Twitter), "the lawsuit reads.
