Isuzu New mu-X Specifications that are Present at GIIAS 2026, What's New?

JAKARTA - PT Isuzu Astra Motor Indonesia (IAMI) utilizes the GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2026 to introduce the Isuzu New mu-X. This latest 4x4 SUV is exhibited during the GIIAS which will take place until August 9, 2026 at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) BSD City, Tangerang Regency, Banten.

Isuzu New mu-X is a versatile vehicle aimed at consumers who need a tough SUV with comfort for everyday use. This car is designed to accommodate various needs, ranging from daily activities, family trips, to exploring heavy terrain.

Carrying the theme "Real Partner, Real Journey", Isuzu provides a number of updates on the New mu-X, ranging from exterior appearance, interior comfort, increased off-road ability, to the incorporation of increasingly complete safety features.

Business Strategy Division Head of PT Isuzu Astra Motor Indonesia, Rian Erlangga, said the Isuzu New mu-X was developed as a multifunctional vehicle that still prioritizes performance without sacrificing driving comfort.

"Isuzu New mu-X is presented as an SUV that is able to accompany more meaningful journeys. Not only tough when facing various terrains, but also comfortable for families, reliable to support professional activities, to become an exploration partner for adventure lovers. This is Isuzu's commitment in presenting vehicles that are always relevant to the needs of Indonesian customers," said Rian, quoted from the official statement, Friday, August 7.

In addition to the mass production model, Isuzu also displayed the Isuzu mu-X Concept which is the result of collaboration with SANA. The off-road concept vehicle uses the Isuzu mu-X 4x4 Onyx Black base which is combined with various supporting accessories, such as Nudge Bar UTAH, Towing Bar Forest, Crossbar, Roof Box, black rims, and mud terrain (MT) tires from GT Radial.

In the performance sector, the Isuzu New mu-X now relies on a 1,898 cc RZ4E diesel engine that produces 150 PS of power and 350 Nm of torque. The engine has met Euro 4 emission standards thanks to the use of a Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC). Power is transmitted through a 6-speed automatic Triptronic transmission designed to deliver a combination of performance, fuel efficiency, and driving comfort.

The character as a 4x4 SUV is still maintained through various supporting features. The 4WD Transfer Control system with a rotary switch allows the driver to switch from 2H mode to 4H when the vehicle is traveling at speeds below 100 km/h.

The ability to cross heavy terrain is also supported by a ground clearance of 230 mm, the ability to cross puddles up to 800 mm, a more stable suspension, and protection for the bottom of the vehicle through a steel skid plate. This equipment makes this SUV more ready to face rocky paths, plantation areas, mining areas, and natural trails.

In terms of design, the Isuzu New mu-X comes with a more modern face. The front carries a larger Dynamic Grille Design to strengthen the premium SUV character. Meanwhile, the New Aerodynamic Design and New Air Curtains Design are claimed to be able to reduce air resistance so as to increase fuel efficiency while making the cabin quieter.

Refreshment is also visible in the lighting system which now uses Bi-LED Projector Headlamp, LED Daytime Running Light (DRL), LED Turn Lamp, and Rear Combination LED Lights to provide better visibility while emphasizing the appearance.

Entering the cabin, the Isuzu New mu-X offers a more premium feel with a design that prioritizes comfort. The head unit of the touch screen now supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to facilitate navigation, communication, and entertainment access. This SUV also comes with Tilt & Telescopic Steering, a seven-passenger configuration, and second and third row seats that can be folded to make the luggage space more flexible.

For safety aspects, Isuzu equips the New mu-X with various active features such as Hill Start Assist (HSA), Hill Descent Control (HDC), Traction Control System (TCS), and Electronic Stability Control (ESC). Meanwhile, the passive safety features include Dual Airbags, Pretensioner Seat Belt, Crash Door Unlock, Seat Belt Reminder, Rear Camera, Emergency Stop Signal, and Follow Me Home.
