Introduced Last Year, New Suzuki Swift Starts Selling In India Next May

JAKARTA - Introduced for the first time in October last year, the latest generation of Suzuki Swift will arrive at the Indian market in the near future.

As reported by Autocar India, Wednesday, April 17, Suzuki confirmed that it will sell the hatchback starting next May, followed by the launch of the all-new Dzire as a compact sedan by the end of this year.

This car will come differently than before, one of the changes is that there is a black color on the pillar C like the Hyundai i20. In addition, the rear camera will be placed on the trunk cap.

It is also reported that the top variant will receive the full LED light. The front and rear bumper will look different compared to its global specifications. Swift will be decorated with the same rim as the global version, but the medium trim will get a unique pattern.

From the heart of the runway, this 'S' belogo manufacturer will equip Swift with a 1.2 liter 3-cylinder Z Series engine that was introduced to Japanese specifications last year. According to the company, the engine will focus on reducing emissions, fuel efficiency, and power.

It is possible that this latest engine will produce up to 90 dk of power and 113 Nm of torque and be equipped with a mild-hybrid system. Although the information is limited, it is estimated that Swift will use a manual transmission of five AMT accelerations and gyrboks.

This is an interesting move from Suzuki considering a number of manufacturers decided to turn off hatchback models like Ford with Fiesta and VW with Polo due to stricter emission provisions and focus on fully electrified models.
