Honda Officially Releases CR-V E:FCEV, First US Hydrogen Electric Car With EV Battery Package

JAKARTA - Honda has launched CR-V e:FCEV 2025, the electric vehicle for the first plug-in hydrogen fuel cell production in the United States (US). This launch also adds to the list of environmentally friendly cars.

This model is said to combine the latest US assembled fuel cell system along with electric-powered plug-in charging capabilities.

Mamadou Diallo, senior vice president of Auto Sales American Honda Motor Co, said that the technology presented to the model is in line with the company's vision to achieve carbon neutrality in all levels of company products and activities by 2050.

"Honda has established an electrification strategy that leads to 100 percent zero-emission car sales by 2040, including the introduction of battery electric vehicles and hydrogen fuel cells such as this new CR-V e:FCEV model," Diallo said, on the company's official website, quoted Wednesday, February 28.

CR-V e:FCEV has a style that is almost similar to the turbo and hybrid versions. What distinguishes it is that the goal design is smoothed and closeder so that it looks neater and exclusive. This model's typical vertical backlight makes this emissionless variant immediately recognized as CR-V from behind.

The Honda engineers optimized the aerodynamic side of this car by bringing in full floor undercovers and front spoilers and strakes that could maximize driving range.

The interior is equipped with standard features such as 10.2-inch digital instruments, a 9-inch HD touch screen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, wireless charging, 12-speaker Bose premium audio system, a heating front seat, and environmentally friendly leather seat material made of bio.

Not only that, but this CR-V has other safety technologies such as its standard version, including Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) and a series of radar features from Honda Sensing.

Speaking of performance, CR-V e:FCEV is powered by a single electric motor powered by 174 dk and 311 Nm torque. This car offers a sporty and fun driving experience with four driving modes: Normal, Eco, Sport, and Snow. Honda has also optimized the structure and suspension of CR-V e:FCEV to provide responsive and convenient control.

Meanwhile, this 5-passenger compact SUV has a range of up to 435 km by EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) standards and is capable of traveling up to 46 km in pure electric mode, and offers easy hydrogen charging quickly for long trips.
