Audi SQ8 E-tron EV 2024 Launches In Malaysia, Price Approaches 2 Billion

JAKARTA - PHS Automotive Malaysia (PHSAM), the official Audi distributor in Malaysia, recently introduced two high-performance electric SUVs Audi SQ8 e-tron and Audi SQ8 Sportback e-tron.

Quoted from Paultan, Wednesday, January 17, Audi SQ8 e-tron is valued at 519,990 ringgit or around Rp1.72 billion, while Audi SQ8 Sportback e-tron is offered at a price of 529,990 ringgit or around Rp1.75 billion, without insurance.

These two vehicles highlight the dual-motor configuration on the back doubles, with each unit capable of generating a power of 138 kW (188 PS) and a torque of 618 Nm. Single-front double-motor added 157 kW (214 PS) output and 355 Nm torque, creating a total system output of 370 kW and a torque of 973 Nm, powered by an 114 kWh-capacity battery.

This powertrain configuration allows SQ8 e-tron and SQ8 Sportback e-tron to reach a speed of 0-100 km/h in a time of 4.5 seconds with the highest speed reaching 210 km/hour.

In terms of charging, the 114 kWh battery on the SQ8 e-tron and the SQ8 Sportback e-tron can receive up to 170 kW of power via DC charging, which allows charging from 10 to 80 percent in just 31 minutes. Both also support AC charging via Type 2 cables, allowing full charging in a range of time between 9.1 and 11.3 hours, depending on the power input.

Internal chargers allow AC charging up to 22 kW. To improve convenience, SQ8 e-trons and SQ8 Sportback e-trons are equipped with chargers on both sides of the vehicle. The energy regeneration system also uses the driving force to restore energy, replacing the use of disc brakes at 90% of the slowing situation.

From the 114 kWh battery pack, the SQ8 e-tron has a range of 458 km, while the SQ8 Sportback e-tron can reach 471 km when fully charged.

Entering the vehicle interior, the SQ8 e-tron and SQ8 Sportback e-tron present the front seat wrapped in Valcona skin, which are also applied to the top of the dashboard and bottom of the cabin with a touch of carbon and aluminum material that creates contrast. The vehicle is also equipped with a surrounding lighting package and LED incoming lights.

Standard interior equipment includes a Virtual Cockpit Audi with a head-up display, two MMI touchscreens, and a haptic button.

For the Malaysian market, the Audi SQ8 e-tron and SQ8 Sportback e-tron are available in a variety of exterior color choices, including Magnet Gray, Ultra Blue, Howls Gray, Mythos Black, Plasma Blue,men's Grey, and Glacier White. Both are equipped with an indefinite two-year standard guarantee.
