JAKARTA - After prolonged rumors about his presence, Mini, a car manufacturer from England, finally launched another electric vehicle, namely All-New Electric Mini Cooper.

The car will debut at the IAA 2023 automotive event in Munich, Germany, on September 5. The car will adopt the name Mini Cooper and will be available in two trims, namely Mini Cooper E and Mini Cooper SE.

With the presence of an electric-powered Mini Cooper, what Mini is doing is in line with the company's master plan, namely the BMW Group, in strengthening its electrification line.

Stefanie Wurst, as the Head of Mini, said that the electric Mini Cooper combines a typical urban style with emission-free innovation and traditional Mini marwah by presenting an exciting driving taste.

"We combine traditional Mini DNA with future innovative and oriented technologies as well as bring the pleasure of emission-free local driving which is a characteristic of Mini," said Wurst in his statement, Friday, September 1.

The electric-powered Mini Cooper has a design like the one that leaked earlier in April. The front light looks wider with two horizontal lines at the top and under the lights.

Also on the back changed, Mini pinned the latest back light which was smaller and formed a triangle. This is clearly different when compared to its predecessor who used a large oval light. Because this car is an EV, there is no exhaust component found.

Mini also revealed a simpler interior part of the Cooper EV with a circular screen measuring 9.4 inches in the middle of a dashboard that has become a hallmark of a manufacturer that functions as an infotainment and instrument.

The midscreen on the dashboard has been operated with Mini Operating System 9, which was developed by the BMW Group and is based on the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) software.

Based on the Spotlight EV platform, the basic version of this car has an electric motor powered by 181 dk with a torque of 290 Nm which can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/hour within 7.3 seconds.

Meanwhile, the SE variant has a large strength with 214 dk and a 330 Nm torque where this car can run from 0 to 100 km/hour within 6.7 seconds.

Mini Cooper E supports enough batteries to make cars go up to 305 km on a single charge and can fit the DC 75 kW fast charging system.

Meanwhile, type SE has a larger battery with 54.2 kWh which has a range of up to 402 km in one charge and can be charged with a DC 95 kW fast charger system.
