JAKARTA - Mercedes-Benz, a German vehicle manufacturer, introduced an interesting update to its premium van model lineup for 2024.

All V-Class variants, including V-Class Marco Polo, Vito, eVito, and EQV, get a refresh that includes changes from exterior to interior to face competition in the segment.

Head of Sales and Marketing of Mercedes-Benz Vans, Klaus Rekugler, stated that the purpose of this refresher is to present an intermediate van that suits the wishes of the customers.

"With more mature luxury positions on EQV and V-Class, as well as premium characters that are getting sharper in eVito and Vito, we hope to focus more on high-margin regions and industries," Rekugler said in a statement on Thursday, July 27.

The V-Class lineup will feature a scintillating touch with a number of stars ending three on the grip, reflecting the impression of a typical Mercedes-Benz premium. V-Class Marco Polo and EQV will get a grip with a flaring LED contour. Meanwhile, another Exclusive V-Class model will be upgraded with a Mercedes-Benz emblem mounted on the engine hood for the first time.

LED lights will be standard or optional on the V-Class front, and the rear LED lights will also experience a refresh with a darker touch. Users can choose a special trim chrom with the words Mercedes-Benz on V-Class or EQV.

Available in the latest five color choices, V-Class has also undergone changes to its rims to optimize aerodynamics, with sizes 17, 18, and 19 inches.

In the cabin, V-Class ranks get the latest MBUX infotainment system. Vito or eVito will be equipped with a 5.5-inch instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch touch screen. Meanwhile, other models will get 12.3-inch screens.

The central Konsole also undergoes a refresher to accommodate wireless charging stations as optional, as well as add up to the latest features such as driven steering wheels, keyless starts, lighting with 64 different colors, and dim rear lighting for driving at night.

Mercedes V-Class will be equipped with a left-hand sliding door as standard, and electric parking brakes are provided to make it easier for users to stop. V-Class also comes with automatic transmission and Active Brake Assist which works at the intersection.

This medium-sized van will also get a Parking Package in the form of a 360-degree camera and trailer maneuver assistant, suitable for vehicles with trailer barriers and automatic transmission.

The update on V-Class for 2024 is a starting milestone for Mercedes-Benz before introducing the latest platform for electric vans, namely the planned Van Electric Architecture (VAN.EA) to launch in 2026.
