JAKARTA Memories of today, six years ago, October 19, 2018, the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Anies Baswedan replied to Djarot Saiful Hidayat's satire regarding the Governor being single. Anies said Djarot should reflect because he also while leading Jakarta without the Deputy Governor.

Previously, the DKI Jakarta government was hit by a stir because Sandiaga Uno resigned from the position of Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta. The vacancy was not filled by the new Deputy Governor. As a result, Djarot immediately responded. He quipped Anies as Governor of Singles.

No one doubts the position of the Governor and Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta as a stepping stone for the presidential election. Anies Baswedan was once repeatedly presented by Prabowo Subianto to accompany him to run in the 2019 presidential election.

Anies rejected this wish many times because he wanted to focus on building Jakarta. Prabowo also turned to Sandiaga uno and was determined. Sandi was also asked to be Prabowo's vice presidential candidate on August 9, 2018. The decision made Sandi have to take a long time off to take part in the 2019 presidential election.

The option is in accordance with the mandate of Election Law no. 7 of 2017 which is confirmed by Government Regulation no. 32 of 2018. Governors or deputy governors are allowed to ask permission from the president for leave.

Sandi chose another thing. He does not want a conflict of interest. Finally, he chose to resign on August 10, 2018. Sandi considers regulating Jakarta is not an easy matter. It takes totality. If he advances to a high level political contestation his position will be empty.

Governor Anies will also work alone. He didn't want that to happen. He wanted Anies to immediately determine a new Deputy Governor. The goal is none other than for the wheels of the DKI Jakarta government to run as they should. Sandi's resignation also received praise from many parties.

"I said that the philosophy can't be carried out, this is a very tough task, DKI is tough, and if I stay in DKI, politicizing DKI, it's not fair for DKI. Pak Anies is already tough, and plus politicization is getting tougher. If I'm selfish, stay in DKI and try it, I'm afraid I don't have a good message for the community. Not trying, nationally must be all out, whatever the result is. We have to be a gentleman for that," Sandi said as quoted on the detik.com page, 11 August 2018.

Sandi's desire for Anies to immediately look for a replacement has not been carried out. Months after Sandi resigned, there was no definite movement regarding the Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta. This means that Anies continues to work without the presence of the Deputy Governor.

Anies was immediately insinuated by the former Governor of DKI Jakarta, Djarot. He satirized Anies as the single governor on October 17, 2024. Djarot also revealed that Anies should not be single for long and immediately look for a replacement for Sandi.

In fact, the satire made Anies furious. Anies replied to Djarot's satire on October 19, 2024. Anies asked Djarot to reflect first. Because, during the leadership of Djarot from June 15 to October 15, 2017, he did not also have a deputy governor. Alias, Djarot is also the sole governor.

Anies' reply in fact provoked public attention. The public considered Anies too much by equalizing his position like Djarot. Djarot is considered to only fill a power vacuum for a moment. So there is no problem according to the Djarot Law, he does not have a Deputy Governor.

Things are different from Anies, who still has a long journey to become the leader of Jakarta. He absolutely needs the Deputy Governor to work on building Jakarta with all kinds of elite projects.
