President Of SBY Becomes Chairman Of The Democratic Party In Today's Memory, March 30, 2013

JAKARTA Memori hari ini, 11 tahun yang lalu, 30 Maret 2013, Presiden Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) resmi menjabat Ketua Umum Partai Demokrat. Jabatan itu digemban SBY karena posisi ketua umum yang sebelumnya dijabat Anas Urbaningrum sedang kosong.

Previously, the Democratic Party was suspected of being involved in a mega corruption scandal in the Hambalang project. One by one the cadres of the Democratic Party were caught. This condition tarnished the name of the party. Moreover, the general chairman himself, Anas Urbaningrum, was involved in corrupt practices.

The Democratic Party has intensively promoted anti-corruption campaigns. The party's ad bearing the red and white three-star symbol appeared on television. Say no to corruption, that's the content of the advertisement. In fact, it's far from burning.

The Democratic Party is like stripped of its own ulcers through a scandal in the construction of a training education center, and a large-scale sports facility in Bukit Hambalang, Bogor, West Java. The Hambalang project was originally predicted to improve the achievements of Indonesian athletes.

Problems arise. The project became a field of corruption. They -- officials of the Democratic Party were attracted by a large budget of IDR 2.5 trillion. Instead of being able to make the training center completely complete, the Hambalang Project actually brought harm. Irregularities also appear one by one.

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has begun to sniff out the corrupt behavior of officials, especially from the Democratic Party. The results were jarring. Many Democratic Party politicians are impressioned of the Hambalang corruption case. The perpetrators were not kidding. The chairman of the Democratic Party, Anas Urbaningrum, was involved.

This condition took him to prison. As a result, the Democratic Party's image, which had campaigned for anti-corruption, fell at its lowest point. People like to have a new view that those who speak out loud about anti-corruption, are actually the estuaries of misappropriation of state money.

The leadership vacancy of the Democratic Party also occurred. Democratic Party cadres have not yet found a suitable figure to replace Anas. If there is, then the figure is only President SBY. SBY's case is the President of Indonesia with a lot of busyness.

This intention was tried by the elders of the Democratic Party to SBY. Like accepting the challenge, SBY actually wanted to become the chairman of the Democratic Party. As a result, SBY was appointed as the new Chairman of the Democratic Party on March 30, 2013. His determination was made at the Extraordinary Democratic Party Congress in Bali.
