It's Official! Seungri Has Been Sentenced To 3 Years In Prison And A Fine Of IDR 12 Billion

JAKARTA - Lee Seung Hyun or Seungri was sentenced to three years in prison.

Today, August 12, a sentencing hearing was held at the military court for Seungri, the defendant in nine cases. Some of them are sexual crimes, gambling, foreign exchange transaction violations, and prostitution.

Quoting SportsdongA, Seungri was sentenced to three years in prison and paid a fine of 1.156 billion won or approximately IDR 12 billion.

“The defendant cooperated with Yoo In Seok to help foreign investors to prostitution and make a profit. The defendant's crime of commercializing sex had a bad influence", the court said.

Yoo In Seok is the former CEO of Yuri Holdings who joined their group chat which contains illegal photos and videos.

The court also added, "[Seungri's] statements are inconsistent and change between police investigations, prosecution investigations, and at trial, his credibility is low".

The Burning Sun scandal that dragged Seungri first appeared in 2019. After he enlisted in the military in March 2020, the case was transferred to the Army General Military Court.

Seungri has denied all charges since the first trial except for foreign exchange transactions where he admitted to exchanging 1 million US dollars in casino tokens while gambling in Las Vegas in 2013-2017. Regardless, the court found him guilty on nine counts.

Seungri was arrested on August 12. In September, he will complete his mandatory military service, but he will be discharged from the military due to his prison sentence.
