SBS Apologizes About Indonesia's Ugly Image On 'Racket Boys' After Being Criticized

JAKARTA - SBS television channel wrote an apology to Indonesian netizens for the criticism given to episode 5 of the Korean drama Racket Boys.

"We from the [Racket Boys] production team apologize for the memory of the match that was broadcasted in episode 5, we don't mean to insult any particular country, player, or audience".

“However, we apologize for some of the scenes that have offended our Indonesian viewers. We will pay close attention to the next episode", reads an SBS statement quoted from the SBS Drama Instagram page.

Previously, episode 5 of Racket Boys received criticism from netizens, especially Indonesian netizens.

In episode 5, the South Korean team came to compete in Jakarta, Indonesia. However, they experienced various unpleasant actions, including the practice room which was not air-conditioned until the Indonesian spectators made fun of them during the match.

The coach who experienced the incident was upset because of the treatment they received but one of the athletes replied that this was not the first time the Indonesian team had done it.

Many netizens expressed disappointment because they thought the picture of Indonesia did not match what they felt.

As a result, SBS social media was filled with comments by netizens asking for clarification and apologies.
