JAKARTA - Polda Metro Jaya officially issued a status of prevention to abroad for doctor and influencer Richard Lee (DRL).

This step was taken following his status as a suspect in a case of alleged consumer protection violations related to his beauty products and services.

Head of Public Relations of the Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Budi Hermanto, explained that the period of preventing travel abroad is valid for the next 20 days.

"Prevention and countermeasures or we know as steadfast have been issued from February 10, 2026 to March 1, 2026," said Budi Hermanto at the Polda Metro Jaya, Wednesday, February 11.

Budi added that the duration of the prevention was still temporary and could be adjusted to the needs of the legal process. If the investigation still requires the presence of the suspect in the country, the check-in period will be extended.

"If it is possible, it will be required by the investigators, then it will be re-submitted for a further 6 months," he said.

Regarding the legal action taken by Richard Lee, the police stated that they respected the decision of the South Jakarta District Court which rejected the pretrial lawsuit of the suspect.

With the rejection of the lawsuit, the status of the suspect Richard Lee was declared legally valid.

Investigators from the Metro Jaya Police's Criminal Investigation Unit have scheduled a re-call of Richard next week for the continuation of the investigation process.

For information, the case that ensnared Richard Lee began with a report filed by a Detective Doctor or Doktif. Richard's products are suspected of containing ingredients or claims that do not comply with the applicable permits from the relevant authorities.

Apart from the composition problem, there are allegations of marketing practices for products in the category of strict medical supervision that are actually sold freely to the general public without a prescription or expert supervision.

For his actions, Richard Lee was charged with Article 435 in conjunction with Article 138 paragraph 2 of Law No. 17 of 2023 concerning Health, which carries a maximum penalty of 12 years in prison.

In addition, he is also facing the shackles of the Consumer Protection Law because he is suspected of harming the community in terms of both material and health impacts.
