JAKARTA The atmosphere of Car Free Day in Jakarta on Sunday, November 9, 2025 feels different for the citizens of the capital city. That morning, the streets were filled with relaxed steps by dozens of participants who were not just exercising, but also celebrating a green lifestyle through the Green DPD RI's Funwalk Democracy.
This event invited people from various professions, generations, communities to cross countries to enjoy the morning air while planting rare trees, namely damar.
this electricity also marks the 21st anniversary of the DPD RI which is celebrated with the planting of 21 damar trees in Gelora Bung Karno. The damar tree itself is known as a rare tree that has high ecological value as well as a symbol of preserving nature in urban areas.
This activity was initiated by the Chairman of the DPD RI, Sultan Baktiar Najamudin and won two MURI records at once, namely the first leisurely path involving cross-professional and cross-border participants as well as planting rare tree types by state institutions.

On that occasion, the Sultan explained that the Fundwalk Green Democracy DPD RI was not just a leisure. This event aims to introduce the existence of DPD RI as well as instill the idea of Green Democracy, which is a political innovation that encourages the achievement of sustainable and cultured development.
"Activities like this are part of the political education of the DPD RI institution as a democratic institution. With Green Democracy, we want to show that DPD RI represents all entities in the region, including the community, local government, and natural resources along with all the wealth of biodiversity," said Sultan.
The former Deputy Governor of Bengkulu also appreciated the participation of various elements of society, including public figures, state officials, and foreign ambassadors.
"Alhamdulillah, today we show the world that our nation can get along well, and be able to grow in the midst of multidimensional challenges. Because the main capital for development is the cohesiveness and unity of all elements of the nation," he added.
Sultan emphasized the importance of maintaining conducive social conditions so that the economy can grow and investment increases. This opens up more job opportunities for the younger generation.
"If we unite, the social situation is conducive, the country is safe, investment will increase. Young people can get jobs and the national economy will grow." he concluded.
