JAKARTA - Awareness of the importance of a sustainable lifestyle is now growing in society, especially among the younger generation who are active and care about the future of the earth.

The combination of healthy living and environmental concern is a positive trend that not only nourishes the body, but also maintains the sustainability of nature.

Through various sports activities and environmental education, the public is invited to understand sustainability, not just concepts, but daily habits that can start from small steps.

Entering its third year in collaboration with the Jakarta Running Festival (JRF 2025) as the official sustainability & circular economy partner, Chandra Asri Group presents an initiative entitled 'Circular Loop'.

This is an idea in the form of an educational and interactive area that invites runners and the public to understand and apply circular economic principles in daily life.

This participation is expected to have relevance to the public, especially the younger generation who are increasingly promoting a healthy and environmentally friendly lifestyle.

"We see runners and visitors who have sports activities. That's why they have relevance to environmental activities. Because behind a healthy body, it must be the body of a healthy environment," explained Chrysanthi Tarigan, Head of Corporate Communications Chandra Asri Group in Jakarta, Thursday, October 23, 2025.

Through the JRF 2025 momentum, Chrysanthi emphasized, this method is believed to be able to provide changes in society to care more about the environment. The education took place in an area in the Circular Loop area located in Istora Senayan, Jakarta.

Visitors can participate in various interactive activities such as Create One Loop (the creation of bracelets from recycled plastic materials), Circle of Change (the exhibition of circular economic products), Circular Challenge (educative challenges about recycling), to photo studios For Indonesia Asri, which is designed to increase public involvement in supporting environmental sustainability.

Activities and education were carried out after the runners completed their agenda, for a moment the event area was filled with food and beverage residue. Then there is also an ant operation, participants are not only invited to help collect and process waste, but also receive education about sorting waste directly.

"This initiative serves as a reminder to keep the earth starting from small things such as picking up trash, sorting it properly, and transmitting good habits to others. Because just like in running, every small step for the environment also brings us closer to a cleaner and more sustainable future," he added.

Apart from education, real action is also realized through the initiative to convert distance to run into an action to preserve nature. Every kilometer taken by 33 Chandra Asri Group employees who are runners, will be converted into one mangrove planting in the Patikang Mangrove Lembur area, Pandeglang, Banten.

With a total run distance estimated at 543 kilometers, the company is committed to planting 543 mangrove trees as an effort to increase natural carbon absorption while preserving coastal ecosystems.

"The waste that will be collected will later be collected by the JRF. We have collaborated with the JRF, later the DRF will collect and will manage the waste. So, not only will we carry out the secular economic process, but also the JRF will also take the initiative to do that," he said.

Furthermore, last year, the waste management initiative carried out at the Jakarta Running Festival succeeded in providing tangible results. Plastic waste collected from the event area was brought to the Asari IPST, Chandra Asri's waste-to-waste or end-to-end waste management facility. There, all plastic is managed and processed into alternative fuel oil (BBM).

"So the collected plastics are processed into fuel, which can then be used for household needs, MSMEs, to fuel work equipment around the company area," explained Chrysanthi.

This innovation is a real example of how waste can return to benefit and become a new source of energy. Meanwhile, this year, the focus of activities is not only on waste management, but also on increasing community participation.

"The goal is that more and more people are involved and educated about the importance of sorting waste. Hopefully, after returning home, they can apply this habit and bring plastic waste to the nearest waste bank," he said.

In order for more people to be interested in participating, a number of activities were also presented both offline and online. Through social media, a giveaway and collaboration with Key Opinion Leader (KOL) was held to invite runners and visitors to the educational booth.
