JAKARTA - Actor Jonas Rivanno revealed the challenges he faced when he was lined up to play the character punctuate in the project produced by Amazing Grace Production and Shakti Cinema entitled Satan Church.
He admitted that he needed a process and research that was deep enough to be able to bring this character to life according to him as a 'heavy audience'.
The preparation process he went through took about a month, filled with intensive discussions with directors and writers to understand the direction of the desired character.
"Eh, if the process is that time, if I'm not mistaken, it's about a month. From getting the story, I also had a chance to talk to the director, a little reading with the director too, what kind of character do you want to direct, I see. It's more that way for myself, yes," said Jonas Rivanno in the Central Jakarta area, Monday, July 28.
For research, Jonas admitted to watching several films as a reference. However, he insisted he did not want to imitate one specific depiction and preferred to follow directions from directors and scriptwriters.
"So, for the research, maybe I watched several films. So there are some pictures too, but I don't want to be like, 'Oh, you have to be one.' I'd rather follow the director and the writer," Jonas explained.
"So, I did research maybe based on the character they explained to me, that's why. And the rest, just have to discuss or have a dialogue with the director and also the author," he continued.
The biggest challenge for Jonas is theliberating character itself. It was difficult because there was no real or definite visual picture of the figure.

Therefore, the references and visions of directors and writers are the main guides in building this character in front of the camera.
"So, for the depiction or playing the character, you may need some references, including what I said earlier, you also need references from the director and also the author. They want to describe what it looks like, that's what it is," he continued.
In the end, Jonas lays his interpretation of the creator's vision and is committed to giving maximum performance.
"If I were the actor, I would bring it according to my best, as much as possible according to what they want," concluded Jonas.
