JAKARTA - A total of six tourist villages in Kubu Raya Regency, West Kalimantan received awards from the Kubu Raya Youth, Sports and Tourism Office (Disporapar) for contributing to tourism development.

"This award was given after we carried out several stages of assessment, from administration, to field visits," said Head of the Kubu Raya Disporapar, Rini Kurinia Solihat as quoted by ANTARA.

The six tourist villages that received the award were Medan Mas Village, Batu Ampar Village, Kubu Village, Sungai Kakap Village, Lingga Village and Sungai Deras Village.

In total, Kubu Raya has 23 tourist destinations registered with OSS and 10 tourist villages have a decree.

These villages have the potential for natural wealth, culture and creative products offered to tourists.

He said that the award for tourist villages in Kubu Raya Regency was a duplication of the awarding of tourist villages by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy to appreciate villages that had contributed to tourism development in Kubu Raya.

In addition to the award for the six tourist villages, they received prizes ranging from coaching money, infrastructure assistance and home stay packages in tourist villages.

"These six tourist villages received prizes but with different shapes and values," he said.

One of the judges in the awarding of the Kubu Raya tourist village, Nugroho Hendray Eka Saputra, said that the assessment point is the attraction of tourism consisting of attractions or tourism products, uniqueness and types of tourism.

"Whether there is a homestay, how is the cleanliness and facilities for the homestay, how is the toilet running smoothly, there are no souvenirs in the village, or MSME products, whether there is a website or social media and how the digital content is often updated or not," he said.

Including then the tourism village institutions, whether there are already tourist village decrees and there are already management institutions such as Tourism Awareness Groups (Pokdarwis).

For this reason, the Advisory Board of the Association of the Indonesian Tours and Travel Agents (ASITA) of West Kalimantan is also committed to making tour village packages and promoting and marketing tourist villages in Kubu Raya.

"ASITA plans to test the tour package at the end of November, God willing, it can be marketed in December to welcome the year-end holiday," he said.
