Tips For Making Young People Still Like Batik

JAKARTA - Batik is a cultural heritage that is the pride of Indonesia. Love for batik needs to be inherited so that the younger generation loves and uses batik.

Designer Maya Ratih said that although batik is a classical cultural heritage, its existence is still respected, it can be seen that there has been a rapid increase in contemporary batik creations.

"If batik is still number one, I think the trend is. But it's a variety of creations, and various classes," Maya Ratih said while attending the opening of the "Kukila Khatulistiwa" batik exhibition to be quoted from ANTARA, Wednesday, September 4.

Jeans batik, for example, is an innovation that combines traditional elements with modern ingredients, such as denim and skin that make it more attractive to the younger generation, especially Gen Z.

The Batik trend also shows diversity, ranging from deep traditional batik to innovative contemporary batik.

With the existing type of batik, batik designs also continue to adapt and are not outdated.

Maya also emphasized the importance for the younger generation to continue to preserve and popularize batik so that this cultural heritage remains relevant and continues to grow from generation to generation.

"No, it won't be out of date (batik), and it will continue to roll over with time from generation to generation, I believe. Therefore, we as the younger generation, the next generation, we must convey it appropriately so that it continues to roll. Like that, so it's not human," said Maya.
