Miss Universe Committee Denies Participants From Saudi Arabia Participate In This Year's Contest

JAKARTA - The public was shocked by Saudi Arabia who reportedly participated in the Miss Universe 2024 event. Rumy Alqahtani is reportedly a representative of the country.

Rumy Alqahtani claims to be a representative of Saudi Arabia in the Miss Universe pageant in Mexico. This news became even more crowded after Rumy shared a photo of himself holding the Saudi Arabian flag.

He also wore a parallel that read 'Miss Universe Saudi Arabia' as a result of the post being a pro-contra among netizens.

If this news is true, Saudi Arabia will participate in the beauty contestants for the first time since it was held in 1952.

The Miss Universe committee then responded to the news through an official statement listed on their official website on Monday, April 1. They stated that no selection process was being held in Saudi Arabia.

"We want to state that no selection process is taking place in Saudi Arabia and such claims are false and false," the Miss Universe organization said.

The contestant selection process to represent an honorable country in the Miss Universe competition is a rigorous process that complies with our rules. Every country that is selected undergoes criteria and regulations, ensuring justice and transparency in contestant voters," he continued.

"As we are preparing for the Miss Universe pageant in Mexico, we are proud to announce we will welcome more than 100 contestants from various nationalities around the world. We are committed to demonstrating diversity and inclusiveness on our global stage, celebrating beauty and women's talent," she said again.

They confirmed Saudi Arabia was not included in the list of countries that would participate. The committee also said Saudi Arabia had no chance to register now.

"Saudi Arabia is not included in the confirmed participating countries this year, we are in the process of selecting candidates and appointing a national director," he said.

"The Saudi Arabia will not have the opportunity to join our prestigious contest until this contest is final and confirmed by our approval committee," the committee concluded.
