Not Linear, Director Reveals Process Of Working On Big Plan Series

JAKARTA - Big Plan is the latest local series to be present in Prime Video. Directed by Danial Rifki, the series features a political conflict starring a number of Indonesian actors and actresses.

Danial Rifki revealed that this series will tell a story with a backward flow, even though the story has been designed linearly.

"This big plan is a Thriler genre and he is a whodunite genre, which is to find out who the culprit is. So if in the thriller genre we penguin the audience to stay on the bench. We can't linearly because if the linear is later it will be boring," said Danial Rifki in an interview session on Friday, September 29.

"For the sake of the puzzle, indeed we open the pattern with big issues and then we peel the characters one by one and the problem," continued Danial.

Prisia Nasution also replied that every actor in the Big Plan series knows their roles and progress. As a result, each character will have its own story while the ensembles remain firmly established.

"When we develop, we already know what the character is, so we know how long it will take from what episode," he continued.

"The presentation is not that wide even though we have a white book that describes A to Z and that's linear," said Danial.

Dwi Sasono, who also played a role in this series, also praised Danial Rifki who was good at compiling the Big Plan story.

"It's not easy to make a story about the back and forth flow, but our director, Mas Danial, maintains the same tempo, so nothing goes wrong, if it's like music," said Dwi Sasono.

The Big Plan series tells the story of four UBI employees suspected of being the mastermind behind embezzlement of Rp17 billion in funds. A police officer who is looking into this case actually finds a bank case that is more than just a financial loss.

Written and directed by Danial Rifki, the series is played by Dwi Sasono, Adipati Dolken, Prisia Nasution, Chicco Kurniawan, and Hanggini. All episodes can be watched starting October 5, 2023.
