10 Years Of Depositing On Laptop, Salman Aristo Realizes The Aces Series

JAKARTA - Salman Aristo will be present with his latest series, The Aces. This series is one of the titles released by Amazon Prime Video ahead of the last half of 2023.

The Aces series tells the story of two billiards players with different characters - the naughty and the perfectionist who competes on the billiards board. They try to reach the main point for honor and survival.

This sports drama uses billiards as a background story, an aspect that is rarely talked about in Indonesia. Salman Aristo expressed his desire to make the story come true for a long time.

"The Aces is a folder that has been deposited on my laptop since 2013. At that time, I was pitching five ideas, but Raph (Raphael Phang) chose this," said Salman Aristo as the director of the series The Aces.

"First, this takes the theme of sport drama and we know that sports are one big event that we have and are interesting about, I'm always interested in what's happening in sports. Here the sport is billiards, something that is still rarely excavated in Indonesia," said Salman.

According to him, so far billiards have appeared significantly in supporting characters in films or series, such as talking about politics or agreements.

"Interestingly, billiards are photographed to take another point of view that is full of precision but that uncertainty depends on control and there are always opponents. Sports is very close to politics, corruption, and others in the Aces," Salman said again.

The main character is people in their 20s who are still looking for their identity. Billiards in The Aces are used to capture differences, high and lower class from the angle of billiards," he explained.

This also departs from Salman Aristo's preference for the world of billiards. Through his latest series, he wanted to raise a different narrative that could make this series interesting.

"I fell in love with billiards since high school but the stigma is negative. Now it's still running for many teenagers, we're trying to dig again and finally getting into the ecosystem, it turns out that there are more venting," said Salman Aristo.

"Now, what conversations Indonesia can bring to the world. Not outsiders what they want," he said again.

The Aces series stars Kevin Ardilova, Emir Mahira, Adhisty Zara, Surya Saputra, Chandra Satria, Agatha Piricilla, and Indra Birowo. The series has 8 episodes in which the first four episodes aired on December 21 followed December 28 on Prime Video.
