'Sonic The Hedgehog 2': A More Exciting Adventure

JAKARTA - The story of Sonic the Hedgehog continues to the sequel. This Sega video game in fact still attracts the attention of fans from various formats, including a big screen.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is a sequel to the first film that aired in 2020. Through the production of Paramount Pictures Indonesia, Sonic 2 tells the story of the adventurer of the blue hedgehog after fighting Dr. Robotics.

Sonic (Ben Schwartz) lives his life after successfully expelling Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) to the mushroom planet. The incident only took place briefly after Dr. Robotnik teamed up with Knuckles (Idris Elba).

On the other hand, Sonic is feeling overwhelmed because Tom Wachowski (James Marsden) and Maddie Wachowski (Tika Sumpter) are leaving the house for Maddie's sister's wedding. But Sonic is also reunited with a new friend named Tails (Colleen O'Shaughnessey).

Sonic 2 is Jeff Fowler's development in directing the film adaptation of this video game. Both from the story, comedy, to the action is much more fun than the first part.

If previously we were acquainted with Tom and Sonic, this time the audience will see the conflict experienced by Sonic himself. Starting from the maturation process when Tom and Maddie left to the introduction of new characters.

Its long duration doesn't necessarily make the story boring. The interactions between Sonic and Tails and the comedy seeds are quite entertaining.

Jim Carrey's character as a villain also appears satisfying, although the audience may feel that Carrey's characterization looks like Ace Ventura or The Mask.

Apart from that, the animation sometimes doesn't look smooth and is noticeable in some scenes. Actually, this is not disturbing but it is quite unfortunate considering this is a franchise that fans have been waiting for.

Surely Sonic 2 can treat the disappointment of fans from the first part. Not only giving honor to the video game, Sonic 2 also presents an exciting and full of friendship stories.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 opens in Indonesian cinemas starting today, Wednesday, April 6.
