JAKARTA - Actor Vino G. Bastian has been appointed as Buya Hamka in the biopic by Fajar Bustomi. This film has gone through the post-production process.

So far, the figure of Buya Hamka is known as a great scholar in Indonesia. However, in this latest version, Fajar wants to present another side that the public should know.

Buya Hamka's story is adapted from a book by A. Fuadi which was just released this month. Through this book, A. Fuadi wants to show Hamka's side as a writer and humanist.

“I tried to see the figure of Buya Hamka from a different degree. I saw with the essence of various sources,” said A. Fuadi at the virtual launch on Thursday, December 16.

The election of Vino G. Bastian was chosen because he is known as an actor who is very well versed in his role.

Ahmad Syauqy, washing Buya Hamka said Vino was able to play the grandfather. "Hopefully Vino can play a cleric and hopefully the current generation who doesn't know Buya Hamka can get to know him," said Ahmad Syauqy.

Vino also sees Buya Hamka as a figure that the public needs to know.

"We see how a man respects a woman, how a child respects his parents through Buya Hamka," said Vino G. Bastian.

“We always read about how Buya Hamka is a writer. It's really good to see the differences when writing books about religion and other aspects so that there are characteristics and characters," he continued. The film Buya Hamka directed by Fajar Bustomi is planned to be released in 2022.
