Kemenduk Proud Target One Million Recipients Of KB IUD Until The End Of May 2025

JAKARTA - As part of a commitment to create a healthy and prosperous family, the Ministry of Population and Family Development (Kemenduk bangga)/BKKBN launched a large program entitled "One Million KB Acceptors" targeting recipients of contraceptives throughout Indonesia, especially through the active role of midwives until the end of May 2025.

The initial implementation of the program started from Tangerang, Banten Province. The Minister of Population and Family Development as well as the Head of the BKKBN, Wihaji, said that this initiative was focused on the long-term contraception method, especially the IUD or commonly known as a spiral.

"IUD is a priority in this program because of its effectiveness in preventing long-term pregnancy and lack of treatment after installation," said Wihaji while attending the program launch in Tangerang, Monday, as quoted by ANTARA.

IUD is a T-letter contraceptive device installed in the uterus, working by blocking sperm's journey to the egg or changing the condition of the uterus so as not to support pregnancy.

To achieve the ambitious target of one million acceptors, the Ministry of Education is proud to deploy field cadres to take a direct approach to the community. Education and intensive socialization will be an important part of the implementation of this program.

All midwives in Indonesia have also been directed to actively convey important messages related to planning the number and distance of children born. This is considered important in supporting the quality of life of families in terms of health and economic welfare.

This plan is not just a contraceptive program, but is a long-term strategy for better family planning. We will convey education not only in health facilities, but also in field activities such as social services. One of them, services will be opened during social activities at the factory on 7 May with the target of female workers, "explained Wihaji.

He added that public awareness of the importance of pregnancy arrangements had begun to increase. However, education is still needed so that understanding is more thorough.

"Pregnancy that is too close and the age of a mother who is too old has a risk. So it is important for the public to understand the best time in planning a child's presence," he said.
