JAKARTA - The Kabanaran Bridge stretches for 2.3 kilometers on the southern route of Java, connecting Kulon Progo Regency with Bantul Regency. Before the bridge was built, road users had to turn 15 kilometers with a travel time of up to 30 minutes. PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG) supplied 10,000 tons of cement to the construction of the Kabanaran Bridge which was inaugurated by President Prabowo Subianto on November 19, 2025.

During the construction of the construction project which is one of the strategic infrastructures in strengthening connectivity in the southern region of Java, SIG supplies UltraPro cement products to support various stages of development, ranging from the bottom structure (bored pile and pile cap) that distributes loads to the ground, to the upper structure (coloms, beams, and decks) that support and distribute bridge loads.

SIG's Corporate Secretary, Vita Mahreyni, said that GIS' contribution to the Kabaran Bridge construction project is a tangible manifestation of the company's support for the national infrastructure development program, especially in the southern region of the Special Region of Yogyakarta.

"We are committed to providing the best quality and service products to support the acceleration of strategic infrastructure development. The Kabanaran Bridge not only strengthens connectivity between regions, but also has a huge socio-economic impact on the community, ranging from more efficient access to transportation to encouraging growth in the tourism sector and economic activities in coastal areas," said Vita Mahreyni, in her statement. Thursday, December 11th.

In terms of design, the Kabaran Bridge was built with the concept of Multi-Arch Bridge which combines Corrugated Steel Plate (CSP) and foam mortar, producing a strong structure as well as having an elegant and futuristic appearance. The beauty of this bridge is reinforced by Yogyakarta-style ornaments, such as mountain icons that represent the philosophy of life, as well as the motifs of tangur keris and batik nitik which symbolize cultural openness. The gate in the form of a joglo on the bridge side also confirms the identity of the Yogyakarta culture and strengthens the visual attraction of the southern coastal region of Bantul.

In addition to strengthening transportation connectivity, the presence of the Kabanaran Bridge is believed to be a lever for economic growth and tourism in the southern region of DI Yogyakarta. This bridge opens access to 2,164 hectares of agricultural land in Galur District, supports an increase in agricultural production of up to 9,143 quintals of vegetables and fruit every year, and encourages an increase in fishery products in Srandakan District by 13 tons per year.

Vita Mahreyni added that UltraPro cement products have advantages in application convenience, optimal dry time, high bending strength, and more solid and durable final results.

"This product has also been used in various prestigious projects in Indonesia, such as the Jakarta LRT, Jakarta International Stadium, Trans Sumatra Toll Road, Yogyakarta International Airport, Thamrin Nine Highrise Building, and the Jakarta "Bandung Fast Train (KCIC)," said Vita Mehreyni.

Furthermore, Vita Mahreyni emphasized that SIG as the BUMN largest provider of building materials in Indonesia will continue to play an active role in national infrastructure development through the provision of high quality and environmentally friendly products.

"We guarantee the smooth supply of building materials to the success of national strategic projects with quality and quantity of products that are maintained. Through sustainable innovation, GIS is committed to supporting development that is not only physically strong, but also sustainable for the environment and society," concluded Vita Mahreyni.
