MBG Budget Reaches IDR 335 Trillion Next Year, BGN Says There Is A Surge In Beneficiaries

JAKARTA - The allocation of the state budget (APBN) for the Free Nutrition Food (MBG) program in 2025 will increase significantly to IDR 335 trillion. This figure is almost double the realization this year which reached IDR 171 trillion.

The government said that the increase in the budget was due to the target of distributing MBG which would immediately run fully since early 2026 to 82.9 million beneficiaries.

Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) Dadan Hindayana explained, this year the absorption of the budget is low because the program has only started on January 6 with around 300,000 beneficiaries.

This number, said Dadan, will gradually increase to reach 82.9 million beneficiaries by the end of 2025, which is the basis for full distribution next year.

"In early 2026 we will fully speed from the beginning of the year and we will absorb the state budget of approximately Rp. 25 trillion per month when we are full speed from January to December," Dadan said at a press conference at the head office of the Directorate General of Taxes at the Ministry of Finance, Jakarta, Friday, August 15.

Dadan also said that the MBG portion ceiling will not decrease next year even though beneficiaries have increased from 300,000 since the program was launched in early 2025, and to 82.9 million beneficiaries by 2026.

"There is no change in the portion ceiling, the increase is purely because the number of beneficiaries is already large," he said.

As for 2025, BGN targets the recording of 20 million beneficiaries to be completed in August.

In addition, Dadan continued, the infrastructure development of the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) is targeted to be completed in October 2025. Thus, the full distribution of MBG will only begin in November 2025.
