Minister Of Agriculture Amran Ensures Safe Food Stock Ahead Of Ramadan 2025

JAKARTA - Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Andi Amran Sulaiman guarantees that food stocks are safe to welcome the holy month of Ramadan 1446 Hijri.

Amran Sulaiman said that food stocks such as rice were available up to 2 million tons plus production had increased by 52 percent from farmers from various regions.

"Safe, very safe. This is the largest stock of 2 million tons and production has increased by 52 percent," he said after opening the General Assembly of the Higher Education Alumni Organizations Association (Himpuni) in Makassar, South Sulawesi, quoted by Antara, Friday, February 21.

Amran Sulaiman is also optimistic that he will not carry out food import activities to meet the needs of the community when entering the fasting month. On this occasion, he asked for prayers so that farmers' production would continue to increase so that imports did not occur.

Regarding the potential for food self-sufficiency which is a government program, he also admitted that he was optimistic that it could be realized in the not too distant future.

Especially if you look at data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) which states that under production currently has increased compared to the January-February 2024 period of 52 percent.

"God willing, as soon as possible (sufficiency), there is already a hilal, there are already signs, January-February, March, that production increased compared to last year's 52 percent," said BPS. Amran.

The chairman of the Unhas Alumni Association (IKA) said that indications of an increase in production, especially rice, could be seen by the absence of scarcity and relatively stable rice prices.

"Alhamdulillah, we feel it now, last year January February there was a shortage of rice, even it was rationed. Now the average price is Rp. 12 thousand, last year it was Rp. 16 thousand," he explained.
