JAKARTA - Education is one of the important foundations in shaping the quality of human resources. However, for some families in Indonesia, the cost of education is still a challenge that can hinder children from continuing school or completing higher education.

This condition makes various forms of educational support, including scholarships, have an important role in opening wider learning opportunities for students and students from various backgrounds.

Efforts to expand access to education are being carried out through the opening of the 2026 GrabScholar registration which is intended for students at the elementary, middle, high school/equivalent levels to undergraduate students (S1) throughout Indonesia. This program is carried out in cooperation with BenihBaik.com as a partner.

Based on Grab's internal data, since 2022 this program has reached more than 5,700 beneficiaries in Indonesia with a total education assistance worth Rp. 25.8 billion.

The target recipients include driver partner families, merchant partners, the general public, and people with disabilities as part of efforts to expand more equitable access to education.

"Education is an investment for the future of Indonesia's young generation. Through GrabScholar 2026, we strive to open more opportunities for students, students, and students from various backgrounds to gain more equal access to education,"

"We believe that when young people are given the opportunity to grow, they are not only able to improve their own quality of life, but also have a positive impact on their families, communities, and surrounding communities," said Neneng Goenadi, Chief Executive Officer, Grab Indonesia in a statement to VOI, Tuesday, July 7.

In its implementation, the selection process is carried out gradually by involving BenihBaik.com, Grab, and professional psychology partners. The selection stages include administrative examination, written test, psychological test, to interviews according to program categories.

The mechanism is designed so that the assessment process takes place transparently while ensuring that assistance is received by participants who meet the criteria.

Interest in this program continues to increase year by year. Since it was first held, GrabScholar has received more than 120,000 applicants in Indonesia. In the 2025 registration period alone, more than 56,000 students and students from more than 400 cities and regencies took part in the selection process.

Founder of BenihBaik.com, Andy F. Noya, assessed that cooperation between various parties is one of the important factors in expanding learning opportunities for the younger generation.

"Cross-sector collaboration has an important role in expanding access to education for more Indonesian young people. We appreciate Grab's commitment to consistently presenting GrabScholar and ensuring that this program is run transparently, accountable, and able to provide a real impact for the beneficiaries," he said.

In the 2026 event, participants who pass from elementary school to high school/equivalent will receive educational assistance to support school needs.

Meanwhile, undergraduate (S1) students have the opportunity to obtain tuition fees, accommodation fees, and laptops as a means of supporting learning activities during their studies.

This program also opens up opportunities for participants from various backgrounds, including children of driver partners, merchant partners, the general public, and people with disabilities.

One of the beneficiaries of GrabScholar 2025, Aldo Triawan Saputra, a student at the Syekh Wasil Kediri State Islamic University (UIN) who is also the son of a Grab Merchant Partner, told about his experience during the program.

"As a student with disabilities, GrabScholar's support means a lot to me. The support for tuition fees to laptops helps me to better attend lectures to access lecture materials, do assignments, to develop the skills I need during my education at university. More than that, I feel encouraged to continue to learn, be independent, and prove that limitations are not an obstacle to continue to achieve,"

Regionally, the GrabScholar program has reached 8,238 beneficiaries in five Southeast Asian countries, namely Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Indonesia is the country with the largest number of beneficiaries, namely more than 5,700 people or about 70 percent of the total recipients in the region. Registration for GrabScholar 2026 is open until July 19, 2026.
